Superintendent's Corner

Dear School District Resident,

The voters of the district will have the opportunity on Tuesday, December 8, to decide whether or not they want to own their high school. The outcome of this vote will influence the future of Putnam Valley, both as a school district and town. You, as a voter, will decide the educational future of our children, and to a certain extent, you will determine our community's future.

With this vote, you will also choose how much in taxes you will be paying to educate your high school children.

The first chart below shows that taxes for tuitioning continue to go up just to pay the tuition bills. The second chart shows that, for the proposed high school, there will be annual increases in taxes averaging about $100.00 for the first three years and with taxes decreasing for the high school after the third year. The third chart directly compares tuition taxes and high school taxes. It is your choice of which direction you want your taxes to go: up or down.

Please vote on Tuesday, December 8 at the Elementary School, 171 Oscawana Lake Road. The polls will be open from 6:00 am to 9:00 pm.

John Kleinegris, Superintendent of Schools
